uiautomationcore.dll problem.
« on: November 26, 2014, 02:52:34 PM »
Hi friends,

My system crashes and restart when accessing menus, after flying for a while.
The event manager points to that DDL file. There are fixes on the net but I would rather trust on from here.
I had another DDL fail last night but it has only been the once. I am on my IPAD and don't have it. That one might not happen again. But the uiautomationcore.dll failure is frequent.

 uiautomationcore.dll

Cheers

Al

Hi Al,

If the event log points to uiautomationcore.dll as the faulting .dll AND you get the shut down when accessing menus etc.  Then try the link below.  In this forum post is a link to a uiautomationcore.dll file that you will want to download and place in your root FSX directory.

If it doesn't work, then you might need another version.  I believe I have two different versions at home which I would be willing to send you if this one does not work for you.

Good luck.  I'll check back in the forums later

Thanks Jerry.
I will try that. I had another .dll fail but it happened only once. I was away today and didn't get a chance to fly. Here it is Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system\CmGxSrv.DLL

Hope this isn't bigger trouble. Just so you know, I had a computer business for 20 years after getting out of the Forces. I am a tech and know about trouble shooting. So it should make it easier for me, although I haven't worked for 3 years and the technology is sure  changing fast and I haven't kept up.

Will try the fix and get back to you.

cheers

al

Hi Al,

I went ahead and zipped up the two different files which I've used before to solve the CTD's related to the uiautomationcore.dll.   The 6.0.5840.16386 is the one I last used on another machine.  The funny thing about these CTD's is they don't always happen.  When I built my new machine (just a few months ago) I never experienced the menu clicking uiautomationcore.dll.  So I never needed to install it.

Make sure you place the uiautomationcore.dll file in the root directory where you have FSX installed.  Don't make any changes to any other uiautomationcore.dll files you find on your machine.  Those need to stay as they are for Windows to work correctly.  By placing the uiautomationcore.dll from my download in the root directory where FSX is installed, FSX will use that one and not the others on your machine.

Again, I placed two different versions in the zip file.  If one doesn't work, then remove it and try the other one.  If neither work, then report back and perhaps someone else has another version.  The problem with some of the CTD's is what works for me, may not work for you etc.

Good luck!

Jerry

Got them! Thanks,

Will do some flying tonight (Wilson River Lodge) and see how it goes. I am fairly confident that  I'll get the bugs out of this system. It is such a great machine, with Intel I-7 and all the goodies. Beats when I use to do Flightsim and ATP on a 286 back in 1985 :-) I have watched all the progress and I am just amazed!

Hey Jerry,

Would you do a quick search on your system when you have some time and see if you have this file:
CmGxSrv.DLL

One place tells me it is a virus
http://www.takecarepc.com/fix-dll-error/CmGxSrv.DLL-fix-58572/

Some other web sites just mention on how to fix it.

Only had one crash on it.

Hi Jerry,

Did the Wilson River Lodge trip with all the stops and had no crashes after copying the dll in the FSX dir.
Fingers crossed, but it looks like the fix.

Thanks much for that.

From what I found, CMGxSrv.dll is an ASUS Xonar specific library. It's sound card related.

I'm pretty sure he was being scammed by a company (TakeCarePC.com)  that wanted to "fix" the virus for him.  ;)

Thanks guys,
Exactly what happened. I have that sound on my system. And you are correct about the company wanting to fix my virus. But I didn't go for that.
I will upgrade my sound drivers. When it hung up the sound stay on and wouldn't go away until I reboot. So that matches the ASUS Xonar problem.

Really enjoyed my first trip.

You were so right bang on. I am sure glad I asked for help here and not follow some unknown web site. I have that ASUS Xonar on my system MB, but had it disabled because I also have a high end NVIDIA video card. When I flashed my BIOS, it reset the MB to default and enabled the A-Xonar audio.
I fixed that and disabled it again.
Thanks guys!!
