Each boat or vessel calls a wake from the effects folder.  Also along with other effects such as lights, smoke etc.  Do you have effects of any kind displaying?  Do you have wakes from the default boats or float planes?  Smoke from cabins?

Thanks for taking the time for this. Occasional smoke from cabins, but no vehicles have wakes at all. is there some sort of .exe file I am missing do you think? Teecee.

In your P3Dv2.4 folder, do you have an Effects folder and in that folder do you see the effects files??

They would be fx files like fx_HS_FSX_ship_GEMatanuska.fx and in the effects folder, there should also be a texture sub folder that has the bmp files for the wakes.

You would have to run a repair to get the files back from P3Dv2.4 and then reinstall the RTMM Maritime packages to get the special files back unless someone could find a way to send you their Effects folder.

Hi Teecee,

Need to go back to Dex's question on what is in your Effects folder.   You didn't really answer that question clearly.  For example, in my Effects folder there is an effects.cfg file, about 600 .fx files and a Texture folder that contains about 60 .bmp files.  What's exactly is in your Effects folder?

Edit:  Just to be sure....I am talking about the Effects folder that is directly under the Prepar3D main folder.

OK.. got the textures and the ddl's also the  CFG file, but still no wakes..I just re-ran the "new" wake files again, but still no wakes?? I also ran a repair on Prepar3d v2.4 but all to no avail.. I think perhaps I have to live without the wakes short of a reinstall of Prepar3d. Teecee.

There should be no scenery files in your effects folder.  There should be effect files with .fx extension and a texture folder containing the effects textures.  If you have all the proper files in the proper locations, you should have wakes.  If you don't, perhaps you should consider removing what you have and start over with a reinstall.
