FEATURED LOCATION:Hollis Harbor - by Rod Jackson

This is an exceptional scenery location, and if you do not have it yet added to your RTMM collection, now would be a good time to do so. The flight TO this location is one that can take you low and slow among the soft, greenery covered mountains.  And at the end of the beautiful flight?  An absolutely perfect scenery package ... one you will want to look at "up close."  Look for it on the top of the HERE2THERE page.

NEW SCENERY ADDITION - Herring Bay Seaplane Base and Tail Dragger Diner

Brad Allen made one of the original "classic" scenery locations for us when RTMM first started up. And Herring Bay Cannery has always been a favorite. It is one of the locations in the "Legends" package for beginners. I fly there often after a day of working, just to take a short flight from Misty's Place, enjoy whatever weather is thrown at me and head for Herring Bay. The Cannery is a sight to see.  But WAIT, THERE's MORE ... If you call now, we'll DOUBLE your OFFER ....:-)

We've added a little Tail Dragger Diner across from the cannery. You can park at the dock and head in for a VERY fresh fish sandwich. Or you can sit out at the picnic tables and just marvel at the scenery in Herring Bay.  We've also added a little Seaplane Base (SPB) at the end of the inlet. This has a dry ramp, so if you have an amphibian, you can roll up onto the concrete, get a little gas or get the windshield cleaned!

If you haven't already got Herring Bay Cannery ... (well shame on you!) You should download it first. Then add the bonus offer of the Diner and the Seaplane Base.  Then, as I do, just take the flight in the evening after all the work is done. It is 15 minutes from Misty's Place and 15 minutes back. There is a TO and FROM flight plan for each direction with instructions.  Look for the new location on the scenery page under "H". Sorry, it is not compatible with the ORBX PayWare PAKT SP1.   Enjoy.

NEW SCENERY ADDITION - Rainbow Mountains Lodge - PF19

Brad Allen is "back in the saddle" ... new computer, new sim and some more new scenery for RTMM!  Glad to have him back and here is his P3D Debut, Rainbow Mountains Lodge (PF19).  This uses the scenery switcher, changing seasons at the location.  You can find the new location under "R" on the scenery pagel.  The Here2There zip maps have been updated to included this as has the Starting Points Table on Here2There.

FEATURED SCENERY LOCATION - Port Bazan Cannery by Brad Allen

This is our latest "featured" scenery. Wondering where to fly, we'll help you choose an interesting one with our "Featured Location" posted about once a week. Here is a scenery location few have found. This is a great low and slow flight from Misty's Place to the Western Coastal area of Alaska. You are "safe" at 1200 feet (but update your barometer (B) as there are two 800 Foot clearance areas).  You will pass over Hunter Bay Cannery on your way, and you probably should make a stop there just to look around if you have not seen it. See it on our Featured Scenery Location at Here2There

Port Bazan is on the west side of Dall Island, and is a safe port for the local fishing vessels who need a sheltered moorage during bad weather. It lies between two prominent mountain peaks about five miles apart. The northwestern mountain is 2,500 feet high and the top is a small bare tip. The southeastern mountain is 1,950 feet high and is roughly the shape of a rounded cone and heavily wooded all the way to the top. Port Bazan is about 3 miles in length, averages 1 mile in width and is largely filled with islands of various sizes. Dolgoi Island, nearly closing the entrance, is 1-1/2 miles long and 3/4 of a mile wide. It is mound shaped and wooded and while the seaward shore of the island is storm swept and bare of vegetation, the rest of the island is heavily wooded. This island protects the rest of the cove from the wrath of the Pacific during storm conditions.

Port Bazan can be entered either southeastward or northwestward of Dolgoi Island but the northwest entrance is preferable. This anchorage is the best on the west coast of Dall Island because it is thoroughly sheltered from outside swell and the configuration of the mountains is such that it is reported that storm surge winds are never felt. Look for various fishing vessels in the harbor and the channels as you approach the cannery. There are channel markers that should be used for reference inside the cove.

To/From Flight Plans are available for ALL RTMM locations!  (Over 750 of them!)

The "To/From" flight plan project has been completed. We now have flight plans for all RTMM locations, this includes the 231 USFS cabins.  The "TO" plans are designated with a "=" prefix ... these take you from the airport TO the location.  The "FROM" plans are designated with a "#" prefix...these take you FROM the location to the airport. For the "FROM" plans, you will have to "position" your aircraft at the mooring point using the Latitude, Longitude and Heading given for that location (set Altitude to Zero and Speed to Zero).  The latitude and longitude for each location is on the Here2There for all RTMM locations, and on The Cabins web page for the USFS Cabins. Once you position your aircraft, you then go to the flight planner and load up the "#" plan for that location. Once you take off, you can use the autopilot to take you back to the airport.

You can download the RTMM locations TO/FROM plans from the Here2There Page and all of the To/From flight plans for the USFS cabins from "The Cabins" page. You unzip these folders, copy the contents and paste them into your simulator's documents folder (For FSX /documents/Flight Simulator X/ .... for P3D  /Documents/Prepare3D Vx Files/). Once loaded there, you will be able to see them from inside the sim when you go to the flight planner. The "#" (from) locations will be grouped together alphabetically as will the "=" locations.  Also, if you decide you do not want these ... simply go to the flight sim document folder and delete everything with the # or =.  This is completely reversible.

This gives you over 760 flight plans helping you get from Here2There.  Instructions for the process are in the attachment below.  All USFS cabins have a "USFS" designation in the title of the plan so you will know this is a USFS cabin.  The plans are alphabetical based on location name, so you can more easily find them in the full set of plans.  If you want a plan "FROM" the location, you choose the name of the location with a "#" prefix. If you want to go "TO" the location from an airport, you chose the name of the location with a "=" prefix.

LIGHTHOUSES To/From Flight Plans Added

We've created and added flight plans TO and FROM the Lighthouses that are give to us by PFJ and SAK. There are 20 of them. The plans are inside the zip file for the Cabins flight plans (found on The Cabins-Installation) web page.

PLAN-G and Using Waypoints Table Added

We are still getting many emails with people asking how to choose what to fly to first, or what to download first, etc. To help those people and to help you choose your next flight, we added a table on the Here2There page. This gives the links to Plan-G for downloading the free program. It also links to the csv files that Dieter Linde has made for us. Once you have Plan-G and the waypoints (csv files) you import them into Plan-G. Then when you look at our area in Plan-G, you will see ALL of the RTMM locations, including the USFS Cabins. So you can browse a map and look for an interesting area. You then get the name of the waypoint from the Plan-G map (instructions at table), then select the TO or FROM flight from the RTMM Flight Plans package.  Also, if you do not have that scenery location, you will know which scenery location to download next.  Browsing Plan-G with the added waypoints is a great way of selecting your new flight.

The new "how to" table is located HERE

RTMM Missing Cabins Updated  (Download HERE)

We found an "extra" cabin that did not belong. We thought there was a cabin missing (Appleton Cove) and it was actually there in Tongass X.  The "added" missing cabin has now been taken out of the bgl and the lat/long coordinates and mooring (starting) point has been updated. (So has FSDiscover, although I cannot check it).

All this new download does is take out that "extra" cabin that should not have been there, about a mile down the coast from the USFS cabin put in by Tongass X.

St Paul Airlines and RTMM

St Paul Airlines has contacted us and asked if we would be interested in working with them. They would like to be adding "low and slow" flights to their ample book of flight plans and we can offer them over 700 plans to and from sceneries in Return to Misty Moorings.  And we hope to always be at the front of the line to welcome visitors to our special area.

It is always exciting to meet with new people who share our love of virtual flight.   You can look at their extensive web site HERE.

We will be seeing the SPA pilots show up on our forum ... and they will probably have their name and an SPA number in their signature (so you can know who they are and welcome them). Something like this: Yoland SPA348.

Our site is not the easiest one to get "around" since it is one of the largest of its size. So when you see a "seemingly lost" pilot with the SPA logo on his sleeve come through the door at Misty's Place ... be ready to give them a great welcome and also be ready to guide them through some of the basics of Misty Moorings. Don't be surprised if you get an answer in French (a language we hear often at Misty's Place) ... just use the Google Translate and carry on since we have NO PROBLEMS with posts in a language that is only foreign to "us"! :-).  We also invite our French-Speaking members to give SPA a proper.  For those of us "mired" in English ... start with "Ayez une bonne journée, Quel est votre nom?"

Many members here at RTMM enjoy VA's, here is a chance to work with a very professional outfit that is interested in working with us.  They will be using our scenery locations and our flight plans (Plan G, SAK, PFJ, PNW and Tongass X). So if you have the desire to file a PIREP there, you will be familiar with all of the tools you already use here. And if you are doing some flying with them, you can give them some guidance to Misty's Place in their forum.

We welcome SPA to our area, and will be ready to give them a hand and guidance through the Misty Moorings virtual scenery and web site.  Getting set up is the hardest part, and we can help. Giving people a wonderful journey to remember is the goal!   Welcome SPA!

The RTMM Team
A thread has been started in the Here2There Topic area
Here is their announcement to SPA Pilots

A: Misty's Place (Small update)
B. VA Airlines tables moved
C. RTMM Flight Plans Updated
D. A New Featured Location - Josephine Lake USFS Cabin

A: Made some MINOR changes at Misty's Place. Added "Misty's Place Bar" sign to the building along with an "Air Services" sign. At the docks at the far end of the runway, moved the light poles from the ends of the docks back to the shore so a float plane could park there without ripping off the wing.

B. Moved the Virtual Airline tables from Misty's Place to the "Here2There" page. When you click on the button at Misty's Place, it takes you to the new location for these.  If you have not explored VA ... these are two excellent choices for you to try.

C. Josephine Lake USFS Cabin plans updated (to/from)

D. A new "featured" location, Josephine Lake USFS Cabin. A very simple scenery, and a flight that begins simple and ends in some white-knuckle complexity.

RTMM FLight Plans Updated

There was a problem with Josephine Lake (didn't upload correctly with the internet glitches we were having on 9/10/2014, sorry).

If you downloaded yesterday, redownload this file: RTMM Flight Plans.zip   Go into your sim's "document" folder and remove the "=josephine lake USFS cabin.pln" ... dated Sept 10. Open the downloded folder and select "'josephine lake USFS cabin.plan ... dated Sept 11 and paste it into your sim's document folder.

Nina's Landing Update (New file added 09.11.2014)

An iceberg has appeared out of season at Nina's Landing ... global warming folks are telling me it must be an error since all the ice is receding, but there's a more accurate answer ... we were testing an "ice object" during the DX10/P3d object conversion process and the iceberg remained after testing.  It has now been melted ... which now all the proof for the global warming crowd needs, the icebergs are even melting in RTMM!  (We aim to please).

We are not sure "when" this happened so cannot tell you whether or not you have an iceberg. If you do have one, then download the Nina's Landing scenery location, remove the Nina's Landing folder from your sim's scenery addons and put in the new one dated 09.11.2014.  If you don't have an iceberg ... there is NO NEED to re-download this file ... all I did was melt the iceberg, nothing else changed.

PS: If you like your iceberg, you can keep your iceberg.

New (Updated) Misty's Place Web Page (with new slideshow)

The Misty's Place web page has been re-done and updated. The Virtual Airlines are now over on the Here2There page. The Dispatches are now also over there (also the database for them was moved).

I've created a new "slider" (slide show for screenshots) for the Misty's Page. All of the thumbnails are gone and you can just watch the pictures. You can also use the mouse on the slider to pause a picture or slide it to the right for forward or to the left for backward in the order.

At the moment, there are only 8 screen captures in the "show" ...we will continually be adding to these with the best of the best ... from the team, and from some of yours.  I'll be "adjusting" them to keep the formats similar with the page titles, etc.

Pink Wakes in P3D - already addressed

There have been some comments on the forum that the wakes on the AI Shipping (boats) are not correct, some showing a pink wake. Dex Thomas has repaired this problem ... and he did it about 3 months ago.  So the fix is already on the AI Shipping Site, you will find it in the second table (HERE).  You will see a button for Wake Fix for P3D.  Click on that and execute the instructions in the readme and the problem will be solved.
