P3Dv2 on the water.
« on: January 03, 2014, 10:47:43 PM »
Hey guys,
I decided to check out the tessellated water in P3Dv2 with a boat.  I copy/pasted my Deltasim Maltese Falcon in and got the gauges and effects for it too.

Wow!!!  Very cool!  Pictures don't tell the story.  The boat rocks and pitches in the waves.  When the bow comes down on a wave, spray comes up.  In the first and last pictures, I had changed the weather to major thunderstorms.  ??? Look at the swell ahead of me.  :o  The water is not flat!!!  ;D  I like it!  8)

8) Awesome!  8)

That looks cool Jeff,

I might have to speed up the savings purge for the new PC I want. P3D 2 will be mine and the Riva Aquarama will be wave hopping.

Glad to hear your system is on the rebound.

Yes.  ( . . . but there's nothing to see down there, as far as I can tell.)  wtf?  Can we place objects under the P3Dv2 water???

Edit:  I have an Oscar class submarine.  It doesn't dive deep though, so some work is needed for that.  It is for FSX, of course.  But now it has water to play in.  Yay!!

. . . and here is the one that comes with P3Dv2.  It does dive!!

"DIVE!  DIVE!  DIVE!"

I've done it!  I made my submarine "submersible" in P3Dv2.
I can dive, surface, cruise at 39 knots, and explore the new watery pixels of P3D.   ;D

Oh Oh ASW aircraft are now needed!  David Farragut during the battle of Mobile Bay is often misquoted, he actually said:

"Damn, torpedoes ...  Full speed ahead!"   ;D :P

Flying a helicopter - the most fun you can have with your hand between your legs and not go blind.

I haven't seen anything in the water yet.   Except, . . . well, there are walls all over the place.  I've been trying to cruise the bottom, but keep finding walls of "floor" that go right up to the surface, then drop off suddenly.  Maybe a mesh setting?  Anyway, it's new territory to explore.

That's a good idea, Patrick.  I will check out the orca's at Orcas Island.  Oh, I don't think I have it in P3Dv2.  Only in FSX's Orbx world.  I will see if I can load it anyway.  ;D

EDIT:  I'm back.  The water is EXTREMELY SHALLOW!!  Not good for a submarine, or whales either.  This is the only view I could get of them.  Any closer and they disappear.  Any other angle also makes them disappear.

. . . and,

 ;)

There is a shipwreck off the coast of Hawaii.  It's the Maui Princess!!   :'(  She rests on a shelf at -667 feet below sea level.  (I'm not telling where it is though!!)

The shipwreck is part of a scenario that's included with P3Dv2 for the sub.  I searched the murky depths for an hour before finding the wreck.  Good luck!   ;)

I got a wild hair, (or is it hare?) and fixed up my sub a bit.  I couldn't get landing lights to stay on though.  That's wierd.  So I used white nav markers in place of the "intended spotlights".  I fixed the prop spray effect too.
