Some SAK time
« on: March 28, 2013, 12:47:18 AM »
Here's some pictures I took on my trip from Hoonah to Skagway.  ;)   The landings are at Sisters Island, Haines, and then Skagway.  I thought that the light brown and gray paths and associated buildings at Skagway looked funny.  I had to make sure they are FTX objects.  They aren't!!  ???

I've switched to a link to photobucket for the slideshow.  Hopefully this will reduce my bandwidth.  ;)

Hey Jeff!

There must be some compatibility issues at your end. Those grey and brown lines don't look ORBX style at all! Here is how Skagway should look like, according to Iain Emms's screenshots posted over ORBX Preview forum:

For some reason, Haines looks odd too on your end...
That being said, those are great screens for sure!

Cheers,

Jeff,
I watched your slide show, pretty neat.  Nice screen shots but I notice a problem at Skagway from the overhead screen shots.  I know this because I found it in my installation as well and I'll tell you how to correct it.

At Skagway those light brown "streets/taxiways" are not supposed to be there.  It is caused by a spurious .BGL file I found in my 'Master Scenery Library'  I believe you have that file as well.  If you will look in the scenery sub-folder of the library for a file named:

 a_b_PAGY_ADE_FSX.BGL

just disable it by adding .OFF to the file name and Skagway will improve quite a bit.

Matter of fact there should be several files in the same area of the sub-folder that start with a_b_(XXXX).......,
these are ADE files but I do not know where they came from.  Most have MCW in the file name those are usually the initials of the person who made them.  Notice that the PAGY name has FSX instead.  All of these ADE files are for airports in Alaska and most of them are outside the SAK area but I disabled all of them with the .OFF extension and visited each one to make sure the airport was still working with them disabled.

I'll load up the sim later and post a screen shot of PAGY with the file turned off to show the difference.
For now trust me and find the files and disable them.

Hopefully the screenshot will show in this post.  I have not been to Photobucket site for a long time and it has all changed and I'm not sure how to work it any more so here goes! .........

Well, not what I wanted but clicking the link should get you the shot of how PAGY should look.
(Don't know which link to pick to show the photo in a forum post.)

Here is your pic, Spud -   ;)

Skagway with "a_b_..." files disabled:

Thanks Just Fly and Spud, for the help with my PAGY problem.  I knew there would be a solution when I got home from work.  I have already disabled a few of the UTX bgl's that are hanging out in my Scenery/world/scenery folder.  (even after I had UTX disabled already)  I will go hunt down the file you told me about now, and then I can continue my flight up the railroad tracks.   8)  ;D  8)

Edit- Ok, I've turned off all the "a_b..." files.  Now I'm heading for Skagway to check it out.  Thanks again, Spud.  8)

I am at Skagway.  It looks good.  It is almost 6pm here, so it's dusk in FSX land.  I've got runway lights. :)

Hi guys
I thinks that it's come .... at the instal  Scenery

When you instal a Region ORBX  before , unswitch FTX central  and lets on "" FSX default  ""

if you instal an airport to a region switch FTX  on this region that work fine

I look directly on Skagway  my instalation  and looks great  whithout tweaking BGL . off

this my screen

Near the PLACE SPUD SCREEN

Hi Jeff,

Great set of shots....the pictures just don't do justice to the great ride from Skagway to Carcross following the White Pass rail line.....the gorges, bridges and so on are spectacular.

Good Gawd, what kind of thermals or long johns are you wearing to be flyig around in the trike in temps like these. I'm seeing river and lakes frozen over, at the very least you should have frostbite of the face. BRRRRRR
