Dispatch #1
« on: July 01, 2012, 04:38:28 PM »

Hello.

I installed your RTMM Mission 1 today.I went to go fly it.and it said the associated flight plan was missing. It continued and loaded the flight.

Based on the readme.I did install the whole RTMM Dispatch 1 folder with it's contents to the required FSX location.
There is a flt. file and a wx file.I installed these two into where my flight plans are kept. There is a sound folder and images folder as well.I left those alone.
There isn't a flight plan that says VFR Misty's Seaplane Dock to Wilson River Lodge.PLN?.It's just not there, that I can see.

I'm not sure if and what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for any assistance.

Yep, you're right.  I just checked the zipfile on the mission download link, and the flightplan is missing.  Very strange.  Thanks for finding that.  I have attached the flightplan file below as a temporary fix.  Place it into your "Flight Simulator X Files" directory with your other flightplans.  Sorry about the error.

Do not move the flt or wx files.  They belong in the mission folder "RTMM Dispatch 1".  They are "mission specific", and shouldn't be mixed with the free flight saves.  By the way, the flightplan is for reference only.  There are some areas that don't take "flightpath" into consideration.  You will need to avoid obstacles manually if following the GPS.

Thanks!   8)

EDIT - The zipfile appears to be broken, unable to be opened after download.  I am looking in the zipfile, and the RTMM folder has a date of 1/23/1683.  What the f*%#!!  I must get to the bottom of this!

OK, I have re-worked the zipfile and resubmitted it to Doug.  But it's the middle of the night.  Things will be fixed soon (or tomorrow).   :-[ :-[ :-[

Well, right after I made that post, the storm took out our cable here, so about half way through the upload, zilch, it quit.  I got your revised one and am uploading it now ... the cable is working again.

I redownloaded the RTMM Mission 1,again about an hour ago.

I tried to extract the files from the compressed zip file to a temp folder. It says it is invalid. It also says the compressed zip file is empty.
I guess it's saying, there's no files in the compressed zip file to extract for use?.

I wonder if the mission zip file got corrupted during upload to the RTMM server?.

Just thought I'd mention this as a note.

Hi ... uploading it again, I think we had some problems last night because of the storm. It should be up there in about 20 minutes.

OK, that'll work.  Thanks Doug.  I just checked out the zip file.  It's the "package" zip that I was sending the mission to you in, and it contains everything.  So, if people just copy the RTMM Dispatch 1 folder (and subfolders) from it, to the "backcountry" folder in the FSX missions folder, and copy the flightplan to where they keep theirs at, it should work fine.  (fingers crossed).  I hope everyone enjoys the mission as much as I enjoyed making it.

Any more problems, questions, or comments?  I am monitoring this thread (and several others) continuously.  Please let me know, so we can get it right.   8)

Thanks Doug.

I downloaded it again about 15 minutes ago.It works as advertised.I reinstalled the whole thing, just in case.

The contents of the folder, does seem to have a few more files in it,than the previous one, excluding the flight plan.

It works fine.So I'm good to go etc.

Hi GrayRider,
I'm glad it's working for you.  I didn't know the zipfile was going to be uploaded "as is".  It's Ok, though.  You can ignore the "extra files".  Some (jpg files) are for Doug, and the "IMM" file is the "Instant Mission Maker" file, which is not needed to run the mission.  You could safely remove that one from your RTMM Dispatch 1 mission folder. (to free up some space on your HD)  Otherwise it's not hurting anything.

I hope to improve my mission "packaging" skills as time goes by, so please bear with me.  ;)
It's easier to make a mission, than it is to package it for upload.   :o
