Removed and banned.   Wow, this was a 9 year old account which it explains how it got past my now-daily spambot ban/deletion process of the new bot forum member registrations.  Weird.

Anyway, I just saw this so hopefully no one clicked on the spam links, in the future please click the "report to moderator" link in the bottom right of the message to report posts like these.  That way I'll get an email and take care of it ASAP.  Thanks.

Norm,

William Butler, MFC Pilot 0105, completed Tour MFC0062 BWEP Gates of the Arctic (PAPR-PAGB) on 24/04/13.
I did not spend much time on the North Slope when I was in Alaska.  Just one trip through Anaktuvuk Pass and on to west of Deadhorse to band White Fronted Geese.  It is a bit nostalgic for me as my best friend was the leader of the banding team.  He was was a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and one of the best bush pilots in Alaska.  He taught me a lot but passed away too soon about 8 years ago.  Memories like this one are another reason reason I appreciate the Misty Flying Club.

Bill

Well you made quick work of MFC0062 BWEP Gates of the Arctic, William. Glad this small excursion brought back some fond memories. The next and final BWEP excursion, MFC0063 The North Slope, departs Galbraith travelling northward and heads for the peak, Deadhorse (Prudhoe Bay). It is not a long excursion but is some feat to reach the top. (or I guess I should say the start of the pipes).

On Prudhoe Bay you'll see some of the Arctic oil rigs and pump houses which harness the oil from the oil fields in the Arctic Bay and connect to the BWEP pipes and carry oil southward all the way to Valdez.

Brad Allen RTMM who created the BWEP for FSX and P3D spent a many painstaking hours and hours building the paths of the pipes, pumping stations, refineries etc along the way and Doug building airport locations and also some pipeline accessories. It was quite the feat which took a very long time but it such a very special scenery addition, which follows the route Trans-Alaska Pipeline System for the most part.

So one more section to go: the North Slope. Have a great final trip northward along the route of the pipes to the top of the world!

In the mean time, the completion award for MFC0062 BWEP Gates of the Arctic has been added to your pilot's awards list. Thanks so much and well done Bill.

Thanks for the thoughts all.

CT scan results show no spread beyound the liver - relatively good news I suppose. I have had microwave ablation a while back, but that had failed and the lumps came back so I am going on a chemo course of treatment. TACE if that means anything to you. It's well covered on Google. I could be feeling rather iffy for a few days post treatment. But que sera, sera. I have no regrets at all.

Will drop back occasionally and keep you updated.

You're right Chris. I've been saying for years "none of us are getting out of this alive. But cancer can be beaten. My late husband beat it, my sister beat it last year. It is much better than 10 or 20 years ago. And it was 25 years ago when my husband had throat cancer.
He was no fun though, he wouldn't let me put him in the refrigerator, to see if he glowed in the dark. (after radiation...) I Wanted him to tell me if the light really goes out when you shut the door, too.
Seriously though, it can be beaten, hang in there, and blessed be.
