Addon Scenery and Enhancements / Whitehorse CYXY airport scenery issue
« on: November 26, 2017, 07:31:19 PM »
I have a strange problem at Whitehorse CYXY.  I have not flown out of this airport before so not sure where/when the problem was introduced, but as you can see in the picture, the airport is really messed up. My scenery order has not changed recently besides the periodic additions of RTMM files at top (none of which I know of that impact this airport).  I have ORBX scenery installed and updated.  Any ideas?

I recently added Misty's Old Yacht Club scenery and then noticed in a subsequent flight from PAKT (ORBX payware) that the airport scenery was all messed up.  Disabling Misty's Old Yacht Club fixed the problem.  So I lowered it in priority to a point below PAKT  (ORBX's FTX_AA_PAKT) and both scenery areas worked.

That a known issue or something that should be noted on scenery description for the Old Yacht Club?

Just completed my 100th flight from the RTMM flight plans library.  It just happened to be a flight finishing at Misty's Place -- in the mist with real world WX too.

Thanks for creating all the interesting stops for my first 7 months on the site! I have visited 85 RTMM sites plus 83 USFS cabins so far.

I celebrated with a repaint and a new interior. The look matches the age of my computer.

I am hoping this might be a simple DX10 adjustment, but I notice that my custom scenery locations, even USFS cabins, seem to have black and white flashes from a distance.  When I get closer to the location it disappears.  It is not the big looming black boxes issue.  This image shows Ketchikan area from a distance and it is like black and white twinkles on the coast line.  Any fix suggestions? Thanks!  Brian

From Here to There - Missions, Trip Tics and VA / Swan Lake(s) adjustments

Working my way through all the "S" flight plans and can update the following:

West Swan Lake Cabin from Quartz Creek
* The flight plan goes to USFS Swan Lake Cabin (other side of the lake from W. Swan Lake Cabin)
* Map shows West Swan Lake Cabin (matching title in GO TO table)
* Need a flight plan associated with W. Swan Lake cabin (can I submit one for consideration? what's involved?)

Swan Lake from Petersburg
* Has wrong map associated with the flight plan in the GO TO table, FP is fine, just needs a map

I have only been flying with you a couple months but I am now officially hooked.  I just finished my 50th flight plan and I've logged 48 USFS cabins and about 40 other RTMM attractions.  It's fun following the flights in Google Earth and the complete inventory of objects in there is much appreciated.  It ALL is.

So my screenshot... This entrance and exit to the Swan Lake Cabin near Cascade Creek Hydro was a thrill.

The Strawberry Ch Shipwreck entry in Go To table should note we need Prince William Sound scenery to see the shipwreck. Thanks!  Brian

I noticed the Situk Lake flight plan takes you instead to Situk A68 (location of Situk Eagle Cabin & Situk Raven Cabin) but not to the location of the lake or the Situk Lake Cabin which is about 6 NM further away. Thinking the description and flight plan both need updating.  Again, hope this info is helpful.  As you can see, I'm working my way thru all the flights that start with letter "S"!

Having just completed about 30 flight plans in my first month here, I have to start by thanking the RTMM team for making all of this content available.  It has really brought me back to FSX.

Since it sounds like you appreciate having feedback to make improvements, I'll continue sharing any minor observations like this, but please know it comes from someone that shares your enthusiasm and wants others to enjoy it just as much as I do!  Hope it is helpful.

So... just flew the two Sitkoh Lake flights from the RTMM Flight and noticed:

Sitkoh Lake EAST from Chatham-T CF02 -- STARTS YOU AT Corner Bay Dock TF02 and not Chatham CYM.  Starting at Chatham will shrink the mileage too.  MAP image is correct, but underlying flight plan file is just more like the WEST cabin flight.

Sitkoh Lake WEST from Corner Bay Dock TF02 -- OK

No matter how I load the Shipley Bay USFS-W flight plan, my system crashes.  I have tried it as the very first flight loaded after starting system and I have tried loading it AFTER another successful flight.  I briefly see the airplane at the dock, then FSX crashes.   I can certainly fly it without the flight plan being loaded, but thought it might be worth reporting in case a fix is needed.  Brian

Just landed at the Double Bay USFS cabin and while tracking my flight and looking for a new destination in Google Earth I saw another plane and had to do a double-take!  Anyone else ever seen one of these captured in a Google Earth's Alaska imagery?  The Seward chart has this bird on the A1 airway.

Location =  60°27'53.07"N 146°20'39.40"W

Just flew the Shelter Bay flight and I think the table has the wrong distance.  It says 20 NM, more like 4 NM.  Thanks!

In flying to Redoubt Lake Cabin I noticed it has the wrong map linked in the Go To table.  The map in the table is for Red Alders Cabin.  Brian

Installed the SAK Sea Plane package today and I am trying to determine why I can't see the animated hangar described in the README.  In this photo you can see the location where I think the hangar should be, but it is full and doesn't appear to have a door.  Any ideas?

I do have the EZ_1 and Snow Dog Tour libraries installed.

Thanks!  Brian

Help and Troubleshooting / Using FTX Central for ORBX scenery for FSX
« on: January 05, 2017, 10:37:52 PM »
I am trying to install the ORBX scenery.  I have the FTX Central app running and appear to have downloaded and "installed" the files, i.e. it created an ORBX folder in my FSX directory.  However when I launched FSX, the scenery was not in the list (like the other RTMM files I added yesterday using the FSX scenery library tool).  So I added the new ORBX scenery like I normally would.  Was that a mistake and does FTX somehow manage it and not reveal the files in scenery library?  Also are the ORBX Libraries required (they are downloading now).

Reason I think there is a problem is I went to an airport near PAKT and two seaports I tried were on land, had grass, trees and cars driving near me!

Thanks in advance for your guidance. Brian
