Title: Flattens
Post by: One-Eye on February 02, 2011, 12:38:47 PM
I am currently "working" on a small sceneryette up on Through Glacier.

I can place objects with Flight 1 Instant Scenery and I can use Flight 1 AFX to create an airport with ICAO code. I have one problem (probably something to do with RTFM) and that isgetting the flatten polys to actually flatten the landscape.

Is this an FTX PacFjords thing?

This is sooo frustrating!

I get the flattens to work. Then I go away for tea and when I come back I rebuild scenery and the flattens disappeared. I restarted PC and flattens show again.

I do some more editing and restart FS - no flattened areas. Scream? I really could!

What are you using to flatten the landscape? What are you flattening it for? (I guess an airstrip, but I could be wrong!)

Not for the strips - they are slopy or helipads...

It's worked now anyway. Whatever else the handbooks for AFX and Instant Scenery say, you have to do a full FSX shutdown and restart to get everything looking good.

Don't know about less tea but a good cold beer will aide with the frustration factor a lot of time!

As you will understand, it's a seemingly steep learning curve and some things just aren't obvious or clear in the manual.

Amongst them I discovered "layering" of polygons.

It's all very intteresting and fun to learn.
