P3dv4.4 is out now!
You can download it from the LM P3d website.....

Seems like there are lots of features and improvements included.
I‘m very curious about the new features regarding menu control in VR....

The complete feature list is here.....
https://www.prepar3d.com/latest-news/ (https://www.prepar3d.com/latest-news/)

There‘s also a new airplane included AC11 Commander from Carenado. As I‘m a helicopter guy, I can‘t say anything about this plane..........

Finished installing and now on a 4 hour flight. Followed Poppit's directions for manual install of the three sections, client, content and scenery to the letter and have not had to reinstall anything except AS4. If you read the instructions first, then follow them you will not have to reinstall scenery nor most aircraft (I do not own PMDG stuff). DO NOT DO A FULL AUTO INSTALL IF YOU WANT TO KEEP WHAT YOU HAVE INSTALLED.

Hello Norm,
thank you for providing the links to Elaine Dixons (Poppet) update install instructions.
These are excellent guides for updating P3D Client, Content and scenery.

I only did the client and content and all is well.  Performance seems to be on the plus side.  I haven't tried
VR since the update.  Orbx, FSUIPC are OK.  Active Sky has an update out:

Just did some reading: Content warning: Beechcraft aircraft removed in the new4.4 content. (If you want to keep the Beechcraft save them first before uninstalling the 4.3 content).

Good catch!!!
It‘s in the last line of content fixes in the 4.4 Feature List....and so it‘s easy missing this Note!

Just found this Statement on the p3d Forums explaining the missing beechcraft airplanes.

„Starting with Prepar3D v4.4, Lockheed Martin was requested by Textron Aviation to remove all of their intellectual property likenesses. Previously, Lockheed Martin had an agreement with Beech Aircraft Corporation (Beechcraft) for inclusion of their aircraft likenesses.

In 2014, Textron Aviation purchased all Beechcraft intellectual property and they recently asked us to remove their likenesses from our public Prepar3D builds. We continue to work with Textron Aviation to reintroduce their branded aircrafts so our users can have even more great examples of training and simulation in Prepar3D.

Please direct all questions to Textron Aviation (https://www.textron.com/Contact-Us) for any further details on their decision to remove the objects.“

So ideally, before upgrade save the Beech's: Baron 58 and the King Air)  (and/or any default planes that you may have custom liveries set up within the P3D directory), then upgrade the content to 4.4.

Now if you wanted the Beech's after the upgrade: can do that by pulling out the 4.4 content, 4.3 content back in, pull the beech's out and saving them elsewhere: (Simobjects plus any gauges/effects), then redo the content to 4.4. (But you can't get the custom liveries back for default aircraft with unless you have saved them prior or have an alternative copy/backup to restore them). (IE: Baron 58 with RTMM livery)

Later an user can place the saved beech's back into the sim or to an alternate addons folder/drive.

O.k., I have updated to P3dv4.4 by manual install of client and content.
I didn‘t touch scenery so far, maybe later.

Looks good to me so far.
VR has some new options for activating the menu bar now with the headset. This wasn‘t possible with previous versions.
Not all menu options do work in VR but the mist needed ones in VR mode.

I‘m strugglng with the option to change menu bar on/ off.
There‘s a new customizable key command - hmd menu toggle-.
I mapped a joystick button with this command. But it doesn‘t work.....

Hi
Re P3Dv 4.4
I noticed that Bert Pieke had advised Client only install over on an AVSIM forum re RTMM Addons to a poster.
I have a lot of RTMM Addons!
I only usually do the Client update for safety reasons and often wonder what I am missing with not installing P3D Content and Scenery update

The prepar3D site has a full list of changes for client, content and scenery for each release or version: For 4.4 see release page: https://www.prepar3d.com/news/2018/11/114948/ (https://www.prepar3d.com/news/2018/11/114948/)

As per previous postings there is a method:

In 4.4:

If you update the Client to 4.4: no issue. (uninstall 4.3 client, install 4.4 client).

If you update the content to 4.4: Content update: The Beechcraft airplanes from 4.3 are not replaced in 4.4 (but if you want to keep them just take backup copy so you can put them back in after you have done the 4.4 content update. (uninstall 4.3 content, install 4.4 content). No other issues.

The only bigger issues is if/when you do the scenery update.

Thanks for that
I have a  lot of Addons including RTMM which I would not want to go through installing again
Will stick to Client and Content
Not in a rush to update because WX Radar still to get updated to P3D v4.4
Every other developer seems to have made P3Dv4.4 fixes available
Never updated Scenery since original install of P3Dv4
Does anybody see obvious improvements with Scenery updates?
Scenery is a big part of my flying so would go through the serious work of a large reinstall for major benefits
BBBQ Steve -what are your thoughts?
Will have to do it when P3Dv5 comes along!

As I previously stated in my first post, I followed the Poppet instructions to the letter (as I had previously done for all the other updates, and have had zero items not still there when finished.) The keys are to back up the Beech Barron 58 and King Air 350 if you want them in v4.4, and do not do the complete uninstall, reinstall. be sure the client, content and scenery are manual and individual.

From what I gather from reading across boards is that only software that replaces textures in your sim go away, thus I uninstall and reinstall ORBX Global, Vector and the library. I also have airports HD, REX Soft Clouds, Active Sky 4 which I reinstall. If you have others that you know replaces textures in the base, reinstall them, but a I did not have to do anything else with my scenery. Because it is too lengthy I will only mention publishers of my other software. Oh, btw don't forget to update your NAVIGRAPH data as well as it is gone on installation.

1. Flightbeam
2. DreamTeam
3. ORBX
4. Other freeware and Misty
5. FSUIPC (although I did update to latest just to be up to date)
6 Virtualcol
7. Milviz
8. Coronado
9. Alabeo
10. I'm sure I left someone out, but it works.

Thanks for asking for my opinion and good luck with your update!

I forgot to answer your base question. Here is the benefit of installing the scenery portion of the the update. If it isn't important to you then don't update your scenery. I like the new stuff myself.

"Prepar3D Scenery
Fixes and Improvements
Fixed trench running through large areas in Iran.
Added several representative military jets to AI traffic. These require military cargo/combat parking spaces to appear.
Fix for specular value of bare desert that caused background globe to be brighter than generated textures.
Golf courses can be layered on top of airport backgrounds.
Added several new scenery objects including warehouses, wooden pallets, wooden shipping crates, and military tents."

I have a question on the Beech reinstall.  I know you add the baron and kingair folders from the airplanes folder back.  I have searched the gauges folder and have noted the "Beech-Baron CAB" and 7 king air files.  I have looked through effects and don't find any items.  Is there anything I have missed?  If you can let me know I would appreciate it.

Thank you very much for the text file  :)
It seems that the Carenado A36 BONANZA P3D is also removed with the v4.4 version, do you know what files to keep for this aircraft?

Yes I see that - Arg- The new Beechcraft restrictions from textron p3d. As for the A36 don't know off hand but will work on it - should only take a couple of mins.

B58, King Air & A36 attached - they all use the exact same Effects+Textures but different gauges. List attached.
