Title: Problem of disappearance of waterfall effects, spraying and some wakes
Post by: Handie on August 21, 2018, 06:47:38 AM
Hi,

As recommended by Rod, I come here to talk about my concerns with the waterfall and spray effects that have disappeared on my P3Dv2.4, following "maybe"? the update of my RTMM sceneries (ready for P3Dv4).
I also miss some wakes like for example the ferry of The Western Chugach 2.
I posted screenshots on my initial thread, in The Western Chugach 2 topic, here :

http://forum.mistymoorings.com/index.php?topic=3969.msg35350#msg35350

The file "fx_waterfall.fx" is present in my "Effects" folder as well as the texture "fx_1.bmp".

If anyone could have any idea what's happening in my simu, that would be really cool.
Thank you.

Edit : It seems to me, on the other hand, to always have the effects of smoke (but I'm gonna check to be sure)

Hello,

I confirm that I still have the smoke from chimneys and barbecues, while I no longer have the effects of waterfalls and sprays, nor certain boat wakes.

I went to Barnstormers, which is one of the only sceneries not stamped "P3Dv4 Ready" and I have tiny cascades/sprays there whereas I don't have any anymore on the other sceneries (see my screens.
But nothing to do with what I was getting before... before what, I don't know...

Hi Nadine,
In another thread (http://forum.mistymoorings.com/index.php?topic=4129.msg35719#new (http://forum.mistymoorings.com/index.php?topic=4129.msg35719#new)) bawheeler was missing his wakes.  Here's what he did ...

It is now fixed! I went into the Windows Control Panel and looked at the installed software.  I clicked REPAIR on the P3D Content and P3D Scenery.  After that, the Milz Beaver suddenly has a wake. What do you make of that?

It couldn't hurt to try this.   :P

With P3Dv2, I don't have a Client, Content and Scenery as with P3Dv4 in addition to P3Dv4 Academic... just the P3Dv2 Academic... I don't know if I can make "repaired" with the latter.

Hmmm.. might also be a bathymetry feature so maybe 1st thing is to 1) turn bathermetry off and give it a check.

Also not sure if you can do a repair, but try that next. 2) (Via Control Panel > Programs/Features) and only do the content if there is one as Content contains all of those content aspect including the aircraft and all of their features which would include the effects)

Barring that: 3) Might want to delete your shader cache   (P3D will rebuild new shaders on restart)
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Shaders

If the new shaders no work to get your effects going might want to 4) delete your Prepar3d.cfg (P3D will rebuilt a new default prepar3d.cfg file (Which you can re-tweak) cause you may have a corrupt Prepar3d.cfg file driving your effects graphics issue.
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

Like looking for a needle in the hay stack especially in P3D 2.4 (which is not common these days) but trying Handie!.
