Title: Fairbanks
Post by: xxd09 on April 16, 2018, 06:37:52 AM
Hi All
Just a finding of mine as I reinstall RTMM into new machine
I note that Step Table 8 -Senery Library Order-recommends Fairbanks X and Fairbanks Terrain to be positioned below Orbyx LC
I get duff runways in that arrangement
If I position Fairbanks Sceneries above all Orbyx items ie above OrbyxLibs but below RTMM Libraries-all is good
Just an anomaly of my particular setup?

Not at all.  ORBX scenery files "have to be" below all third party scenery.  Move the Fairbanks files 'above' the ORBX scenery in your FSX Scenery Library.  If your talking about P3D I defer to someone who uses that sim as I'm an old diehard FSX man!

 “Spud” is wise and he is one of knowledge base experts for dealing with simulator issues like yours. In fact if there’s a scenario in any of the sim platforms we fly in, you’ll find somebody here in our forums who’s probably got an answer for you.

Thanks for info
I find Aerosoft Airports a bit of a law unto themselves in all sorts of ways-very idiosyncratic during installation, activation and as I have mentioned in Scenery positioning -in P3Dv4.2

My Aerosoft Anchorage and Fairbanks products are below Orbx along with Tongass and have no problems
in P3Dv4.2

Hello,
I just read on the Aerosoft homepage that tomorrow 2018-04-17 will be the P3dv4 version published.

sems, there will be discount for users of the fsx version.....

Hello,
the Fairbanks Professional for P3dv4 is released.
I installed it today and it looks very nice. That is the good news.

The aerosoft way of installing their airports always on top of scenery library cannot be changed manually.
So, all other scenery library objects are always below the aerosoft entries.
That means that the BWEP facilities for PAFA Fairbanks do not appear as they should.>:(

I like it and since I had Fairbanks X it only cost $8.25 to upgrade.

Downloading new version-Fairbanks Professional-as we speak
When I put the “old” version-Fairbanks X- above Orbyx but below RTMM libraries-all BWEP buildings were in place
Works for me -will new version be the same?

‘‘Tis as I feared
New Fairbanks Professional installs into P3Dv4.2 as a Greyed Out item
Cannot be moved
Can be disabled via Options/Addons drop down Menu within Sim
No BWEP buildings!
No current way of dealing with this -even Lorby-SI doesn’t handle greyed out Scenery
Revert to old version of Fairbanks X or............

I don't have this software. Most likely it's registered in an add-on.xml file in C:\Users\Your Name\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Fairbanks?
If yes, make a backup, then delete this folder.
Then add the scenery the "normal" way via Lorby-Tool. First "Move to add-on.xml" and submit, then "Move to scenery.cfg and submit.
Isn't this posssible?

Thanks Dieter
I will have a look at that
I did try installing to P3Dv4 Addons but installed automatically into P3D - greyed out
I wonder if I installed to a Folder elsewhere-on another drive and tried to Addon from there but I feel thaI may end up with the same result
Meanwhile I have both installed!
One gives me BWEP buildings-the other the latest sceneries
I think this is an ongoing problem with LM-features on their forums
At least I now have the option of one or the other

Disabled Fairbanks Prof under Options Menu via Addons
Added it to Scenery the usual way via P3D v4 Addons where I had originally installed it
Now on installation is in a form in P3Dv4.2 Scenery that can be moved about ie not greyed out!
Moved it down to above Orbyx Libs but below RTMM libraries (as I did with Fairbanks X)
All is go-BWEP buildings now in place
Looking at Options Menu in Simulator under Addons -Fairbanks Prof is there but remains unticked(not enabled)
I am a happy bunny!

Hello xxd009,
did it the same way....and works great for me!
I see Fairbanks Prof + BWEP buildings.

Only thing I‘m not sure about it.
Fairbanks Prof has it‘s own effects folder. I‘m not sure if theseveffect files are used by the sim now.

O.k, I fired up the BWEP Uh60L helicopter and was cruising over and around Fairbanks Prof for about 30 minutes.
I saw the Airport traffic on the ground working as also ai airplane traffic.

The Bwep buildings looks very good working ...... I only noticed one car driving into a BWEP sign placed nearby one of the hangars of the BWEP waterplane base.

I suppose it would br wrong to put the Fairbanks Prof Effects file directly into the P3Dv4 Effects folder?

No problem at all xxd.  You can put Effects in with the default effects OR you can create your own Effects folder for any other add-ons effects - and put them there. In the latter case all you have to do is specify that new Effects folder path in the effects.cfg file of the sim.. Like it can be anywhere: inside or outside your sim - and the path just specified in the effects.cfg file and the sim picks them up.

IE: Effects.cfg (C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4)

[Entry.0]
Title=Default Effects
Path=Effects
Required=True
Active=True
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
[Entry.1]
Title=XXD09's Addon Effects
Path=D:\Addons\XXD09's Effects
Required=False
Active=True

In the above effects.cfg file the sim will seamlessly pick up all the effects that are in the sim default effects folder  as well as the effects that are in your addons effects folder (ie: at path > D:\Addons\XXD09's Effects (Or whatever or wherever you create the folders- either inside or outside your sim- and you set the path reference).

There are lots of ways to do things.. between establishing the paths via xml files and/or by the cfg file entries you can set the paths to every sim component not just effects and as long as you have the correct paths to these folders your sim will pick them up - so you can do just about anything and it will seamlessly work.

Just another very minor point
I note that the plane in the water at the BWEP dock in my setup is a Maule in BWEP livery but the Ski version!
Anything I could try to fix this?

Change your RTMM seasons to Spring and there will be two floats there.

Do you have Season Switcher possibly set "no season" or "winter"?
The Maule M7 260C N260CMM BWEP SKI is part of "Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_noseason.bgl" and "Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_winter.bgl"

I need to see the complete file name including the extension .bgl or .off

Like This:
Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_noseason.bgl
Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_spring.OFF
Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_fall.OFF
Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_summer.OFF
Traffic_Fairbanks_floatplanes_RTMM_winter.OFF

My files match yours exactly but with the addition of the FAI1.. file
Removal of this file removes the  ski Maule from the Dock
It would appear this is the misfunctioning file is my set up

Title: Re: Fairbanks
Post by: dexthom on April 22, 2018, 04:47:07 PM
FAI1 is the airport file for the traffic.  If you remove that, it will kill the float traffic.  Which of the traffic files
files are set to OFF?  If your no season is set to .bgl, the Maul will be enabled.  The spring or summer
file needs to be set with the bgl extension  for the floats.  Do you know how to edit file names, if so,
set the no season file to .off and set the summer file to .bgl  Your RTMM season switcher isn't working for the
Fairbanks Floats.  Perhaps Rod Jackson can help you with the switcher.

All Traffic Files were set to OFF except for noseason
Put it to OFF and removed OFF from summer
No floatplane present!

Thanks for all the contributions here and the patience required to advise an old codjer!
My RTMM Scenery Switcher seems to be working but I feel it’s changes are somewhat incomplete
Trees and bushes remain too green in winter compared with surrounding scenery though runways are white
Ice fishermen missing at Klutina etc
Is there a Slider in P3Dv4.2 that needs to be turned up?
Airport at PANT shows everything in place
Mysterious!
xxd09
PS for fun I tried the old Fairbanks X airport and there was the Maule in BWEP colours on skis setting off on the ice to take off!
Title: Re: Fairbanks
Post by: xxd09 on April 23, 2018, 07:51:17 PM
Thanks for that-no joy I am afraid. Just the same old BWEP Maule on skis which at 12.00am sets off-leaving the water and proceeds across the airfield -looks almost right in Winter.
I notice that I have float plane do the same at Sitka airport.
Must be something wrong with my AI Aircraft installation
Worth reinstalling?
Re Trees-that was a red herring-moving from Dec to Feb put snow on the trees!

     For what it's worth, I installed the Fairbanks airport and related BWEP files a couple days ago.   My season is set to spring, and I have two Beavers at the dock.  One is Eagle Air, the other Alaska Air.  I haven't seen them fly yet, but I think that is just bad timing on my part.   ???

Thanks for that
I did check all my float bases and all are showing float plane presence and activity at docks and in the air-haven’t seen one take off yet
Fairbanks Intl old and new versions remains intractable!
The BWEP Maule Ski moves up and down the BWEP dock at different times of day
So nearly there !
How to turn a Maule into Floatplane?

Title: Re: Fairbanks
Post by: dexthom on April 24, 2018, 09:17:20 AM
The Fairbanks floats depart at 2100Z and 2145Z  You can edit the traffic fille extensions manually.
If you turn off the noseason file and turn on the spring file, you should have a float departing the
dock at 2100Z.

Hi Dex,
You might want to double check the traffic files - I opened the spring one in AIFP and it tells me there is a problem with, I think it was the 2nd leg of flight plan 1 not being able to complete in the time allowed - or something to that effect.

Title: Re: Fairbanks
Post by: xxd09 on April 24, 2018, 03:54:25 PM
No joy
Fairbanks seems very inactive re floatplane for me
Plenty of static floatplanes but they are the default LM ones
Saw my first floatplane take off at Haines -flew all the way to Juneau but disappeared into a hillside just beside the Harbour!
I am getting plenty of activity floatplane wise elsewhere so not a serious problem
Thanks for all the help
