Well, "things" are pointing in our direction again. Putting up the hurricane shutters this afternoon, car is packed. Plenty of snacks and water for the car. And about 6 in the morning, we're on our way to Dan's House north of Atlanta.
We had planned to take this little vacation anyway, sans hurricane shutters! Dan and I are going to an Atlanta Braves game Friday night. Should be a great time.
Bottom line .. I'll be away for a while ... in touch on email, but won't be able to make any changes on the web page.
C' ya.

Just one of the "benefits" of living in FL. :o Drive safe, use your seat belts and have a cold one at the game.

Have a good trip, Doug! Hopefully the hurricane will find another path well to the east of your house....somewhere out in the Atlantic!

Thanks for the good wishes, all. So many of our friends that live here in our community are just not paying much attention to this one. I'm the only one, so far, that has put up the hurricane shutters in our neighborhood. Even tho that cone is now pointing directly at us, with a chance to go back out over water and get "charged up" ... always a good chance it will miss. But with this kind of a prediction, I don't see why my neighbors aren't a little more concerned.
Oh well (Go Braves!) Attached is the 5pm EST predicted route.

Doug,
Never take a hurricane for granted. They have a mind of their own :-\
Take precautions and be safe.

Safe travels Doug and I hope your home and property are able to withstand any bad conditions "Irma" has in store.
Nina and I are riding out the storm here in Orlando and are ready for it.
Good luck,
Brad

So we drove 5 hours to Dan's to get away from the hurricane...hit the link, that's where it will be next Tuesday!

Woodstock right now is right under the predicted eye on the screenshot.
Glad I "evacuated away from ground zero." :-\. (Frying pan to fire?)

Actually, I could see that coming. Atlanta is not nearly far enough away. :o ??? Stay safe out there, sir! 8)

Maybe you should un-bug out back home.
-
Can't, the highways are "reversed" all one way out. :)
-
Drive in reverse they will never notice ya! ;)

Have a home streaming cam (for my dog) I left it pointed at my weather station. I watched it during the "event." So in SC at home I had a 26 mph gust and 12 mph ave windspeed, got 9.2 inches of rain. So no big deal there. High tide is about 5:30 pm, so the storm surge has some worried. We are at 12 feet elevation, about 16 miles from the coast, but only 3 miles from the May River.
Here near Atlanta, it is gusty and rainy, but nothing to worry about yet. We don't expect much here.

From Atlanta...TV news saying stay inside off the streets with a woman standing the rain in a blue jacket...duh, good idea, it's a rainy day. I worry about the news MAKING the news.
-
Made it back. Most of the stations were out of gas in the Atlanta area where we stayed. Played it safe and came back through Augusta, plenty of gas, only a few "Florida" plates passing me. The only good thing about this hurricane was I found out a good way to "wait it out!" (see pic)
That was a good hot dog!
Go Braves ...

Ha ha, glad to see you survived. :P

That makes me hungry. May have to go to the local ball park for that atmosphere. Of course, the local ball park for me is the Cleveland Indians home field. 21 games in a row! Wow!
Welcome back, Doug.

I feel for your ''suffering'' Doug, but you n' I know as well once you get back the real work will begin, best of luck to you

Welcome back Doug and Brad and hopefully back to normal. Irma sure did some heavy stuff along it's path.

I understand that Maria is destroying everything that her sister Irma missed. Stay safe
