Title: The transition to ocean near Tongass Fjords in P3D
Post by: YoYo on March 01, 2017, 07:28:27 AM
Hi,
Maybe its not my priority, because TF X scenery is for "Low and slow" simply but maybe someone noticed the same.
It looks like TF uses own textures for water (or config). We are not astronauts but from top view it looks like this:

(http://s5.ifotos.pl/mini/Prepar3D-_awqqrsw.jpg) (http://ifotos.pl/z/awqqrsw/)

(http://s5.ifotos.pl/mini/Prepar3D-_awqqrss.jpg) (http://ifotos.pl/z/awqqrss/)

In Elaine's manual the one guy noticed the same: http://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/491556-how-do-i-install-tongass-fjords-x-for-prepar3d-v3/?do=findComment&comment=3493968 (and on Eaine's screen is the same: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7646/27563933754_c4d56c5fbd_o.png , but better matched textures).

Im user of REX HD Textures Direct. I can live with this but good to know how to solve it or someone noticed the same anomalies? Is it possible to remove some of textures (for water) from TFX? I haven't idea now.
I can match more dark textures from REX texture Direct I think, the simple way...but other ideas are welcome!  :)

Hi YoYo,

As a developer, who has some understanding of the tile system in FSX/Prepar3D, I have no problem living with it. :)

To aleviate the difference in water textures off shore would require that the developer either does not modify textures near land or continue with the mods far off shore increasing the size of the scenery file to unmanagable size.
As you say RTMM is a lo n' slo scenery area by definition (Bush flying) stay down in the terrain and ignore a non-problem.
