Title: Installing RTMM AI Shipping v2.0
Post by: simurq on November 18, 2014, 08:39:10 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to manually install RTMM AISP v2.0. The file unzips, finds and creates requested folders OK.
I just noticed that some of the boats folders do not contain .AIR files, only the models; yet some have SIM.CFG files instead of AIRCRAFT.CFG as is customary for aircraft folders.

Am I on the safe side with manual installation? Since I never had any experience with boat traffic in FS, I mean is this normal to not have these files?

Also, is it safe to install traffic files for the following locations to avoid duplication of files from RTMM AISP v2.0?:
* Egg Harbor Fish Camp (there is a file "trafficCoronationIsland.bgl" which is already installed with RTMM AISP)
* Halibut Cove
* Hollis Harbor
* Iggy's Harbor
* SAK Seaplane Bases
* Port Walter
* Waterfall area
* Westwood Boats
* Whiskey Cove

Thanks!

Rustam

Hi Rustam,

There are two methods that Dex used for creating shipping AI depending on the situation.  One uses Google Earth and the other using the Aircraft AI function.   The shipping package varies where some ship folders use the Google Earth method (sim.cfg) and some use the Aircraft AI method (aircraft.cfg).  So your observation of the folder contents produced sounds perfectly normal.  Manual Installation works quite well.

When installing sceneries etc. that have a duplicate file, I usually always opt for keeping the one that carries the latest date.  In most cases, if it is the same named traffic file, then it is probably the same exact file.  So bottom line, it should be safe to install all as you describe.

Hello
I installed the RTMM AI Shipping v2.0. I works fine. On the AI shipping page, there are still other files offered. Should I install them seperately or are they included in the RTMM AI shipping package?
thx.

Nobody can give me an advice? Or is my question too stupid...
Sorry then.
Cheers

Sorry Marcel,
     I've missed your question somehow.  :'(   The other offering is "Bella Coola Marina", and is NOT included in the AI Shipping 2.0 package.  You should install it if you plan to go boating around the Bella Coola area.  There is another file, which is a fix for ships with RED wakes.

Hi Marcel,

That's what I have on my installation of RTMM AI traffic:

* RTMM AISP v2.0 (ships and boats only, no flying stuff or other enhancements from "traffic page")
* PAKT Ferry (comes within relevant scenery package)... just to feel the taste of Ketchikan area... :)
* NAC Bases traffic (comes within relevant scenery package)
* ketch_traffic_fix.zip on CIRP scenery page (trafficKetchCoastGuard.bgl & trafficKetchYacht.bgl) to fix AI traffic conflict @ PAKT
* traffic for Western Chugach Part 1 (comes with W.Chugach scenery package).

And even this is too much to satisfy my ego... :) Pretty happy to see live floats and planes around the areas I'm usually flying to and from!!!

Hope this helps!

Rustam

Yes, I can see that everything looks very simple now.
But I could swear that when I wrote the post, there were still a lot of seperate files in the directory.
Anyway, the issue is solved.
Thx
Marcel
