Title: Ultimate Terrain Canada / Alaska
Post by: dutchman88 on May 10, 2012, 03:26:09 PM
I keep seeing reference to a patch at various sites to make the two compatible, but the links are dead.

Also, is there a screen shot to show how the add on scenery ranking screen should look with ultimate terrain, the two fijords plus all of Holgers freeware (glacer bay, victoria etc) plus the patched add on sceneries for them installed?  Is there an ideal install order for the lot.

Final question, is the add on scenery screen order and the order in the FSG scenery CFG file linked or do I have to make position edits in both?

Sorry for the long winded question but I spent the money for the UT and the two fijords and would like to install them all.

I wish I could be more help but I only use FSX with Vista anymore. If you're talking about FS2004, I'm afraid we can't be of much service. Plus we're only focusing on the addon scenery we design for the areas you're requesting help with.

I'm sure you will be able to get the answers by going to the Ultimate Terrain forums for whichever  version of FS you're running presently.

I have the UT/Misty patch.  I also have the Misty patch and Tongass patches.  I could zip them up to be posted on the site if a moderator would like.  Just give me the address to send them.

Doug, What do you want to do with this?

As the question is posted in a site dedicated to FS2004 and the original Misty Moorings which is also designed for FS2004 I suggest that the original poster contact Ultimate Terrain for answers to his question as
Return To Misty Moorings is not compatible with that simulator and we can not offer any meaningful support.

As a possible way to avoid mistakes by users of FS2004 the blurb in the link to the FS2004 scenery be modified.

"General discussion area for Misty Moorings content on FS2004. Please keep conversations on-topic."

This statement is very easily misunderstood, I'm sure, to mean that RTMM is useable with FS2004 when in reality Misty Moorings (old version) is what is being referred to and not the scenery available on the RTMM site.

I don't think anything is confusing.  Nobody is saying, afaik, that posts in the FS9 forum apply to FSX or the Return part of the forum.  The OP was referring to FS9 sceneries and so was I in an FS9 forum.  He has a problem and I can help.  I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with that.

As far as the install order is concerned, what I do is the WA sceneries first, then Van+, then Vic+ (I read somewhere Van before Vic but don't remember why), then Misty, Tongass, GB (you'll switch back to the Tongass setup afterwards automatically).

All this after UT.  Hope this helps.

Edit:  Oh yeah, then all the misc downloads from Misty Moorings, Tongass etc.  You can find some other things at Avsim and Flightsim for those programs as well.

Rich,
your post actually, in my mind at least, confirms my opinion that the sentence may tend to lead FS2004 users to believe that Return To Misty Moorings scenery will work with FS2004 which it will not.  At least not 100%, it is developed using FSX and is intended only for that version.  The software you list I'm assuming is FS2004 versions.  I switched to FSX about 2 years ago and by now I can not remember the names of the FS2004 software for the similar scenery.
It is the purpose of this forum, as you say, to provide a venue for FS9 users of the older software to communicate and help one another.  I did not intend to discourage this with my observation on the quoted sentence at all.  What I'm referring to is the tendency for 'some' people not to read documentation and although they are using FS9 try to down load the RTMM FSX scenery and then post about problems with the scenery not working.  If they understand that the FS9 scenery is not the same as the RTMM scenery and is not supported by the development team of RTMM then of course any advice or suggestions offered here for the FS9 scenery will be helpful to the FS9 user.  With that in mind I have to assume that dutchman88 is speaking about a patch made for FS9 and if that is the case then I probably only clouded the entire issue with my comments.  I just wanted to point out that there is a compatibility issue for RTMM scenery and FS9 and IF a user assumes our scenery would work with the older simulator confusion is the result.
